Work Area Clearance (WAC)
What does WAC involve?
- As a Dieri representative you and other WAC Field Crew members will be working closely with the Anthropologist and Archaeologists to make decisions in the field about clearing areas for work requested by the Petroleum and Minerals Explorers.
- Assisting Specialists in surveying boundaries or areas cleared for work.
- Identify Cultural Heritage Sites that must be protected. (Artefacts).
- Able to decide what areas are cleared for work and which areas must be excluded.
- Discussing and negotiating with the WAC Team and Specialists and Company representative about clearing areas for work.
- Discussing and negotiating with other WAC members on the Exclusion Zone boundaries.
- Identify a variety of site types.
- Fairness and Equity: 2 x different locations & 2 x Males and Females.
- Assist with surveying boundaries.
Learn from experienced Dieri members about country and stories
- Work in a team alongside anthropologists, archaeologists, mining companies and other Dieri Members.
- Working in extreme heat, you must be aware of heat safety precautions.
- Enjoy 4WD driving in isolated areas on Dieri country.
- Ability to travel via car, plane and off-road driving.
- Lots of walking and driving involved so individual must be physically fit.

What will TDAC provide?
- Please note that the lengthy online inductions previously required have been removed. Induction will now be completed upon arrival at the mine site as part of the Work Area Clearance (WAC) process. This streamlined approach ensures all required induction and site access requirements are completed on-site prior to commencing work.
- Upon Sign up TDAC will provide the relevent personal protective equipment, incidentals, and clothing.
- When attending a WAC, TDAC will organise the relevent travel arrangements and logistics for the Field Trip.
About you
- Dieri members must be 18 years old and over.
- Be medically fit.
- Able to work both in a team environment and independently.
- Able to work in extreme weather temperatures.

To apply you will be required to complete the below forms. You will also be required to provide a form of Photo Identification and a valid Police Check/CrimCheck with your application. Once you have been selected for a WAC you will also have to complete a PPE Application Form.
Please note: you will not be selected for a WAC Field Trip until all of the forms are completed.
